Question: Can you tell me what to expect during my adjustment to new hearing aids?

Answer: Excellent question! Wearing new hearing aids may prove as simple as immediate satisfaction, like hearing those conversations with young children about school, work and life. Then, within a few days you are enjoying more environmental sounds like rain, birds and sirens. However, another outcome, though rarely experienced in our office, is that sound is uncomfortably loud or feels not “normal,” resulting in the desire to take them off. If this should be the case, return immediately to your audiology specialist who can “ease you into hearing” or prescribe a different program for your hearing sensitivity. Your Audiologist can verify your hearing aid settings with objective measurements to ensure you’re getting the best hearing and comfort for your lifestyle.
