Question: I wear hearing aids, but sometimes still struggle to hear clearly in restaurants and other places where there is a lot of background noise. Can I do anything to help this?
Answer: While hearing aids certainly improve your hearing, noisy situations may still remain a challenge at times, as they do even for those with normal hearing. Since we actually hear with our brain, it makes sense that we need to exercise it for these difficult situations. There are hearing exercises you can do to improve comprehension in noise. Websites and apps for your smart phone are available that provide brain training exercises, some specifically for hearing and speech processing. Contact our office for a list of websites, apps, and even auditory exercise activities that will give your brain a good workout.
