Question: If I had hearing loss, wouldn’t my doctor have told me?

Answer: Physicians rarely screen for hearing loss. Most people with hearing impairments hear better in quiet environments (like your doctor’s office) so it can be very difficult for your physician to recognize a hearing problem. However, more and more physicians are understanding the importance of hearing health to patients’ well-being and recommending these tests routinely. Our doctors of audiology are hearing professionals trained to review your hearing health history, examine the ear and ear canal, and determine the severity of your hearing difficulty and cause of hearing loss. You may request a referral from your doctor for a hearing exam, or call our office to schedule yourself for an exam and recommendations.
