Question: Why do you think some people receive better benefit from their hearing aids than others do?
Answer: Improving hearing ability involves more than just a hearing aid. Many things contribute.
For example, programming the hearing aids is a skill and art to allow best hearing benefit that is comfortable for the user. In addition, we believe that patients who receive auditory rehabilitation techniques as a standard treatment protocol experience more benefit from their hearing aids. This approach includes testing communication needs in the patient’s lifestyle along with a standard hearing test.
We address the specific areas where the patient is struggling to hear and develop a written program to address these situations. We encourage family members in more effective communication with the hearing aid user and show new methods of managing room acoustics and speech understanding.
