Question: What health conditions are associated with hearing loss?
Answer: As we wrap up May and Better Hearing Month, it is important to bring awareness to the direct effect hearing health has on your overall health. Untreated hearing loss has been linked to increased risk of cognitive decline, dementia, depression, falls, and social isolation. Those with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes are at increased risk for hearing loss and should be tested. Additionally, cigarette smokers have been shown to be 70% more likely to have a hearing loss than nonsmokers.
Give us a call for a baseline hearing test if you have any of these risk factors. If you or your family have been noticing hearing loss, don’t delay testing and treatment.
