Dr. Sue Abel Vavrock’s passion to help others hear better began in childhood when her mother was diagnosed with a middle ear disorder requiring surgery to improve her hearing. Pursuing audiology, she earned a Master of Arts degree from Auburn University in 1999 and later received her Doctorate of Audiology from A.T. Still University.
She worked in ear, nose, and throat practices for 15 years building a firm foundation of medical audiology prior to joining Thigpen Hearing Center in 2014. In her years of practice, she served as Director of Audiology, a consultant for school-based hearing-impairment programs, and in a newborn hearing screening program. Being part of a private practice allows her to spend the time needed with her patients to build relationships while working together toward better hearing. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Vavrock is a native of Alabama and loves cheering on her Auburn Tigers. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children as well as cooking, reading, and having fun at the lake. She is an active member of New Vision Baptist Church where she teaches Sunday School. She is also a Girl Scout leader.
